I have come accross something odd. I believe I have finally found my GGG Grandfather in the 8th TN Cav Co L. His name was Joseph Jones enlisted in 1864, born in Hancock, Co TN, lost his right leg, all this seems to fit into place. The only thing that is odd is that his gravestone states he served in the 13th TN Cav Co K. Would a family made such a mistake as this?

I know he was a Union Soldier, however I have heard of the CSA 8th TN Cav being called the 13th TN Cav Debrill
s Cav. Could this be what has happened. By all accounts he received his pension and was not struck out so I don't think he was Confederate but this new information has me stunned.
