Re: Confederates KIA

The soldier in question (Allen H. Young) was a brother to my ggg grandfather (Moody Young). They both served in the 6th TN. Inf. Co. I CSA which was raised in Madison Co. TN.
The records for both men are very short, containing only a single page, other than a 2nd card noting that he (Allen) died on April 7 1862, which was the 2nd day of Shiloh.
I believe their company or regiment kept very poor records due to the size of their compiled service records, all muster rolls except their 1st muster-in ( Aug. 12 1861) are missing, even though Moody served until Dec. 1864 (according to the 1890 census).
They came to West TN. from N.C. prior to 1850. I'm not sure if their parents came to TN. or stayed in N.C.
I also am not sure who their parents were. If I could find a record of his pay going to his folks, that would give me the name of his parents & solve a mystery.
I do not see any record of his pay going to next of kin in the service record. Any suggestions?
Would I have to contact Madison County or the N.C. County where his parents lived?
Thanks for your help.
