Re: Origin of Hoover's Gap placename?

Hoover's gap was named for the large numbers of the Hoover family that lived in the area prior to the war, during, and after. The Manchester pike from Murfreesboro ran through a long gap and the Hoover family owned most of the land where this passage was and still is. I think there are still some Hoover desendents living in the area. Donnie Vaughn
