I see Rufus K. Ward listed as a Co. F Private in the 4th TN Infantry USA, age 36, enrolled at ROgersville Tn, 15 Nov 1863, got a $25 bounty, absent without leave 15 through 30 June 1863, deserted at Nashville 12 June 1863, restored to duty from deserter April 1865 under Presidential Proclamation.

He is listed right next to an 18 year old William Ward, also a Private in Co. F, who enrolled at Newport 11 Mar 1865, resident of Cocke County, discharged 2 Aug 1865.

I am a descendant of the Wards of East TN ( Margaret J Ward Russell), perhaps we're related...I also believe that I am descended from Pvt James P. Taylor of this same unit.
