I ordered the CMSR & Pension records from this site for my G-Grandfather Rufus K Ward and received a wealth of information. The CMSR state he joined the 4th TN Infantry USA at Sneedville, Tn November 25th, 1861. Another card from the Adjuant Generals Office states the charge of desertion is removed on the ground of error. More info on the charge is listed on the cards.

Rufus also served in the 1st TN Cavalry Regiment USA. I believe that Regiment was organized in Nov 1862 from the 4th Tennessee Infantry.

I too am a descendant of the Wards of East TN. Rufus Ward was born in 1826 in Hawkins Co.,Tn. he died 1907 in the same county. His father was born in Tn too, dont have his name yet.

So, how do we exchange email address to compare our Wards?
