Assume this information derived from the 1860 Federal Census.

John is listed in "Tennesseans in the Civil War" as being in Co. G, Ashby's Cavalry. This company was raised in Monroe, Co.

This company originated as Company 'B' ["Monroe County Boys"], 4th (Branner's) Tennessee Cavalry Battalion.
