I forgot to mention a suspition I have always had that Champ Ferguson may be related to the Cunninghams. We have a Ferguson in the family and he certainly was in the area. Mordicia Cunningham's property had a water source called "The Big Spring" and many came from all around to drink there because the water was so good.
Also, Longstreet's army wintered on our farm because of the good water there.
