I am looking for enlistment records from McNairy and/or Hardeman Counties mostly. I need help finding James Gibson. Here is the info I do have: born 1824 Guilford Co. North Carolina. He and wife Mary Lineberry Gibson lived in Hardeman and McNairy Counties from 1847-1858. She died in 1858 and he settled in Polk Co. Arkansas with family (to find work maybe) while leaving 2 sons in TN with maternal grandparents. I am not sure if he enlisted in Tennessee or Arkansas.??? Union or Confederate??? He is listed in 1860 census in Ark. but not sure if he ever went back home before the war started. I did find a James Gibson from Polk Co Ark that served w/ 19th inf. but not sure if that is him because the age is wrong. How can I find records for men who enlisted from west Tennessee??? . Help if you can please. Sorry if I confused any of you, I am rather new this. Joanna
