He joined the 154th November 15, 1863, 10 days before the attack on Missionary Ridge. I think he may have been an older man, born in the 1820s, to have joined this late -- possibly over 35-40 years old. He is our brick wall ancestor-we can't find him on the 1840, 1850 or 1860 census records. It would mean the world to us if we could find where he is buried or how he died. His records say, "Killed since last muster" on both the January 1864 and the February 1864 cards. I talked with the chief park ranger at Chickamauga and he said the February one was probably an error and that A.J. probably died in January. I don't know of any specific skirmishes the 154th was involved in during January; things were pretty quiet over there in Dalton from what I have learned so far. (I live about 30 min. from Dalton). Any information you can provide would be great to have.
