Ms. Williams,

Check with Stone's River National Military Park for more details because I know they will have the day by day details on the weather during the battle but overall it was cold and freezing rain (air temperature around 35 degree) and I do not believe too conducive to bathing. I have served in uniform for over 20 years and have went weeks without bathing and can tell you that no matter how bad one smells cold weather does prevent one from bathing. I have had Stage 1 Hypothermia as a result of exposure to weather conditions very similar while stationed in Korea in 1984 and it was not a pleasant experience.
