For my part, I have read my posts over repeatedly and completely fail to find in them anything remotely "highly charged" or "insulting". In fact, the view that I expressed, that mass graves were not a sign of disrepect, is now being advocated on the Views site but by people with an obvious southern bent. So how was my post inflammatory?

My only fault is seems was to ask someone, who twice posted the idea that the 54th Massachusetts were thought to be criminals, could then be thought to have been given an honorable burial as soldiers under such circumstances. I fail to understand how thta is insulting to anyone.

I did not think Mr. Hodge was taking a parting shot, indeed it was the very article of the Constitution he suggested I consult that motivated my original statement that blacks in the south were counted for population purposes as less than fully human, but not given the privileges of citizenship, in the first place. I did however very much feel his parting comments revealed a certain personal bias directed only toward one side of the issue. I thank Peggy Holley for her observation.
