The Tennessee in the Civil War Message Board

Dear Ms. Holley,

I would prefer that we stick strictly to historical and genealogical discussion of Tennessee and Tennesseans in the American Civil War, rather than, discussions of your opinion of fairness and balance on this site. The website owner is a descendant of both Union and Confederate ancestry, as near 50/50 as I think is possible. I also had ancestry who were members of Unionist Tennessee units during the Civil War and one ancestor who was a member of an anti-secession group that visited Washington, DC before hostilities began.

Though East Tennessee was a strong area for Unionists, the state of Tennessee according to compiled numbers of military service records was about 80% - 20% Confederate. You should expect a Confederate perspective or viewpoint might exist on this site, when such a preponderance of the descendants of Tennessee Civil War veterans wore the gray uniform.

May I ask again, that opinion-based discussions be moved to the News and Views in the Civil War Opinion Discussion forum at http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/bbs53x/nvcwmb/webbbs_config.pl .

Thank you for your participation and your cooperation.

Jim Martin
