Re: Chiles' Battalion of the 3rd Tenn(US)Infantry

THANKS George !!! Francis Marion Alexander (FMA) was my ggrandfather. I know a lot about the 3rd TN Regiment's actions, but did not have access the pension numbers you have provided. This helps greatly. I have copies of records that shows he was wounded at Big Hill, and then captured. He was paroled in September 1862, went home, recuperated, and then rejoined his unit on January 1, 1863 (listed as "present for duty" that day in Nashville). He mustered out in February 1865, having served 3 years, married 2 years later, had 13 children, and dies at age 49 in 1891. Obviously, a few months later his widow applied for the TN Pension. THANKS AGAIN !
