Thanks a lot for your quick reply to my question about Confederate soldiers buried in Nashville. and your suggestion that I get and read my GGG uncle's service record. As I mentioned in my note, I do have his service record, and it simply says he was left sick at Bowling Green during the retreat south and his officers assumed he was taken prisoner. Since his unit kept moving through Nashville and Murfreesboro, they would not have had any info on what happened to him after that. I think the only answer likely would come from records kept by the Nashville hospital where he was treated and later died.

On this great forum, Tim Burgess very kindly told me that the old undertaker's record noted that he was buried (and no doubt, died) on Feb. 19, 1862, which fits almost perfectly with other facts. If the Nashville hospitals kept no records on their Confederate deaths, I'm probably out of luck, but I have learned a lot and now know where his grave is, which is very gratifying. Thanks to you and all those on this forum who have helped me.
