Here is the records of the only W. Pound in Tennessee units.

George Martin

William Pounds, enlisted as a Private in Company A, 33rd Tennessee Infantry, October 28,1861 at Union City, wounded and captured at Perryville, Kentucky, subsequently exchanged and released at Vicksburg, Mississippi, captured at Missionary Ridge, Tennessee November 25, 1863, forwarded to Rock Island Barracks, Illinois Prison Camp December 8,1863 arriving the 11th, he is recorded on a list of Rock Island prisoners desiring to take the Oath of Allegiance to the US, enlisted in the U. S. Army for frontier service, October 31, 1864, no further records

...........

He most likely was assigned to either the 2nd or 3rd Volunteer Infantry who shipped out for Fort Levavenworth for frontier duty about the end of February 1865.

A good read on these Galvanized Yankees is found in Dee Brown's "The Galvanized Yankees," University of Nebraska Press, 1963.

His records may be procured through the service noted in the red enclosed box above. I do not know if he has a record in Federal files.
