Re: 13th Alabama Infantry - Battle of Nashville

No 13th Alabama on this battlefield.

Hubbard's Brigade followed McMillan's in the attack on Compton's Hill, by which time Confederate defenders had been largely overwhelmed. However, the 34th Alabama of Manigault's Brigade could not have been near. Survivors of William B. Bate's Division held the crest and adjoining defenses of Compton's Hill, which anchored the Confederate left. Three small brigades -- Shy's Tennessee, Lash's Florida and Jackson's Georgia Brigade composed the division. Govan's Arkansas Brigade had been sent to hold the threatened line facing west, just south of Compton's Hill, while remnants of Cleburne's olf division was in line holding defenses east of the hill. The only Confederate '13th' in the area would have been the 13th Arkansas of Govan's Brigade.

Accounts found in 'Medal of Honor' reports often get the facts wrong, particularly regarding Confederate flags captured.
