My g-g grandfather was Sgt. Williamson Rainey/Raney of the 23d Battalion Tn Inf, (Newman's Battalion) I have not been able to find any other information about him other than he was sick with measles December 1863. I cannot find where he was at that time or if he died or where he is buried. He enlisted in 1862 at Thompson's Creek, Bedford Co. TN under Capt.T.J. Stanfield. I believe he may have died from the measles, because my grandmother said he did die during the war but didn't know where, when, how. I sent for his war record, this was all the information I got. Is there any place I can search to find information about his death.
His widow, Margaret, was remarried by 1870..
Would appreciate any help if there is any to be had.
