Can anyone give me a jumping off point on looking for a confederate soldier. His name was William (Billy) Smith and served in the confederate army. He lived in Greene County Tennessee and was killed at Chickamauga. I am looking for a burial and military record. Checking the soldiers and sailors site gives 202 hits with that name. Does anyone have an idea of units raised in Greene County Tennessee? Greene County was predominately Union. I have a photo of Billy Smith in his uniform if anyone is working on a photo history of this area.
