Medal of Honor

Forgive me if this is not the correct place to post this querry. It does involve the Army of Tenn. (Federal) A distant cousin has asked me to look into a relative that according to records should have received a medal of honor.I can't find him listed as actually receiving it. The only Elliott's that were receipt.'s are a Alexander and a Russell Elliott. His name is Pvt. Mathias Elliott Co.F. 20 O.V.I.. .He was latter killed in action in the Atlanta Campaign along with his brother Robert.I checked in the history of the regiment lists pages 22 & 23 that Brig.Gen.M.F.Force as Col.of Regiment and Pvt. Mathias Elliott of Company F are to receive the Medal of Gold.
Then O.R. series I,Vol.52,part1 supplement lists Pvt. Mathias Elliott Co.F.20th O.V.I.was to receive the Medal of Gold inscribed Ft.Donelson,Shiloh,Raymond,Vicksburg. Could there be two separate Medals of Gold or what could of happened? I appreciate any help. Thanks
