Re: Daniel Montgomery, Tennessee Infantry

I believe the entry of his death noted on the Nov/Dec, 1863 muster to be in error, most likely he was wounded, later receiving a sick furlough and later receiving a fatal wound at Jonesboro August 31, 1864. You may obtain these records through the service noted in the Red enclosed box above.

Daniel Montgomery, Private, Captain P. V. H. Weems's Company, 11th Regiment Tennessee Volunteers,*, enlisted May 14, 1861 at Nashville, last paid October 31, 1863, recorded on the Nov & Dec, 1863 muster roll as present, died of wounds since last muster, subsequently on the Jan & Feb, 1864 muster roll, dated Feby. 29, 1864, his presence not stated, further remarks: "On furlough of indulgence commencing Mar. 10 ending 26th March, 1864, last paid December 31, 1863, this muster held at Dalton, Georgia is the last of the bi-monthly muster rolls on record

* This company was known at various times as Captain Weems' Company, Company I, and Company H, 11th Regiment Tennessee Infantry
