Yes, they were sent to Camp Nelson after the battle of Fort Sanders. I did a history of the Ninth Tennessee Cavalry, which was comprised of East Tennessee boys, and in their microfilmed archives it is mentioned that they escorted prisoners to Camp Nelson. A soldier in the Ninth Tennessee Cavalry wrote the following entry in his diary on December 15, 1863 "Started to Camp Nelson, Kentucky with 520 Rebel soldiers." From the diary of Lt.
