Regarding the Confederate wounded that were taken to knoxville: Written by a soldier who was there, "Arriving at Knoxville, I was carried into a hospital whose inmates I found to be a mixture of Confederate and Federal soldiers, wounded and sick...During the month of March I was transferred to the Female Academy building, which was then known as the "Rebel" hospital...When the milder weather of April came, I was sent to Camp Chase, Ohio. I shall recall with pleasure my short stay at louisville while on my way to a prison pen at Camp Chase." From the book "Three Hundred Days in a Rebel Prison Camp", written by John Henry King, a soldier in the 40th Georgia Infantry. This soldier was originally wounded and captured on January 27, 1864 at the Battle of Fair Garden near Sevierville, Tennessee in Sevier County. Perhaps this book would be of help or interest. This is a Google book on the internet, and can be downloaded. Just google the title and use the book search option. Beulah Karr, Sevier County Civil War Researcher/historian
