I am beginning to think this is not my great grandfather. We have found record of Hiram Bayless being buried in a Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee, in an unmarked CSA soldier's grave. This was on an OLD plat of the cemetery. It listed his date of death as 1903. I am running into several Hiram Baylesses who lived at apparently approximately the same time. Very odd - this is not a common name. I am checking the website AGAIN to see if they show any other Hirams.
