Justin - There was a great deal of training activity south of you in Smith County, just north of Tyler. This was the location of the headquarters of General Henry E. McCulloch's "District of East Texas," in the summer of 1862. I will check in the references Monday and see if I can find any artillery units that were raised or organized in Wood County.
