Re: Capt James Nelson, Company H, Reg ??

Thomas,

Thanks for the response however I know he served as I have a copy of the approved Application for Confederate Pension by his widow. Included in the application is a deposition given by Jam. T. Childress of Farmersville, TX stating that he served in the same company which he remembers Company H. Res Corp. (corp is a best guess of what is written) under Capt. Jas Nelson and were stationed at Clarksville, TX. He doesnt remember the regiment but thinks Leftwich joined in 1863 and served about a year.

This is true as we know he died Jan 25, 1864 and family ledgend is that he was killed at the hands of a deserter in Red River Co. Tx. He enlisted in Cass Co and is buried there.

Could you check you book for James T. Childress? Any other ideas where to look for him. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again, Jetta in OK.
