Re: Ellis Blues, Ellis Cty, 4th Regt. Col. Wm. H.

Gary,
It was Col. Wm. H. Parsons. I guess there was not enough room for the rest of the name for the subject. I will give you all I know.

James Samuel Burnett enlisted August 20, 1861 at Waxahachie, Texas in the 61st Bat. And was killed in the war in Cottenplant, Ark. Parsons Brigade. He was 22, and was the 1st Bugler. He served under Capt. Wm. J. Stokes, Cav. Co., Ellis Blues, Ellis Cty, 4th Regt., Col. Wm. H. Parsons Comdg., TST. Tr. To CSA. Mus. in August 22, 1861 for 12 months unless sooner dischg'd at Camp Tarrant; Must Out of state serv. At Camp Hebert, 10-28-61.
I would like to know very much about the battle he was fighting when he got killed. Can you help me?
