Re: 17th Consolidated Dismounted Co D

this was part that got little confusing!:) There were 2 units designated the 17.1-Moore's Regiment 2-17th consolidated(dismounted)Texas Calvary;of which Emanuel Griesenbeck is not listed on roster of either unit, but he is listed on roster of 2nd Regiment Arizona Brigade. Are you sure this is your relative? The 2nd Texas Calvary Regiment,Arizona Brigade was formed by consolidating the 2nd Texas Calavry Battalion,Arizona Brigade,Mullen's Cavalry, and two Independent companies. Never could find where the two companies ceme from! May have been part of original 17 because it was consolidated so many times and part did become part of 1st Infantry Regiment(consolidated) after consolidation with Texas 18th/24th/25th from July 1864 to April 9,1865. The 2nd Texas Cavalry Regiment,Arizona Brigade was formed on Feb.21,1863 and last battle was April 9,1864
