My gg grandfather, George W. Martin, from Meridian Bosque, Texas (b. in Tennessee) was killed somewhere in the Civil War serving the confederacy.. He is on the 17th Cavalry Co K (Moore's) civil War soldiers and Sailors System. His rank in was Private and Rank Out was Private. Family history says he was killed in the War. Does Rank Out indicate he was not killed? He is not listed in the dismounted 17th. Is there anywhere to find a history of the 17th Texas Cavalry, Co K that makes any sense?
