I do not know what W stood for in George W Martin's name. According to the Texas, Bosque Co,Meridian cenus of 1860 he was a mechanic by occupation and was 28 making his b. 1831 or 1832 in Tennessee. His wife is listed as Sarah E. from Iowa and 23 years old--b either 1836 or 1837. Two children are listed: Dora Martin (m. borders) at 3 yrs. old and Frank at 1 year. (b. in Texas.) George Edwin Martin was not to be born until 1861. None of them show up again until Sarah E. has remarried and listed in the 1870 cenus as as Sarah Leach in Indiana. The children's names are listed there as well. Also listed on the 1860 Bosque, Meridian Texas census is Davis E. Martin (brother?) b. 1837 or 1838 in Tennessee. Davis E Martin was in the 17th infantry Co.
