Robert F. Fitzpatrick

My father(age 84) has asked for my assistance in finding information on HIS grandfather Robert F. Fitzpatrick. The only thing we know is that he died January 18, 1901 and is buried in Leon County Texas in the middle of a field near Buffalo Texas. He has a grave marker that reads Robert F Fitzpatrick C.S.A. August 12, 1839 - January 18, 1901. We know this land originally belonged to his wife's (Mary M. Durant) Fitzpatrick family. Also buried in this same cemetary is a Thomas A. Hardee C.S.A. 1833-1905 and his wife Bettie Long Hardee 1849-(unreadable). Fitzpatrick and Hardee BOTH had Confederate Service Markers. I can find NO military record of Fitzpatrick. Hardee may have served in Wauls Legion - but there is no record of Fitzpatrick. Family history says that Fitzpatrick lost an arm in the civil war. I am at a loss, I have written to Hillsboro and they find no record of him either. There is no pension information on Fitzpatrick either. We do not know where Fitzpatrick was born, or anything about his family (parents or siblings). I find the Durant family in the 1860 Leon County Texas census - Fitzpatrick does not show up until 1880 Leon County census (which states he was age 34 and a farmer born in Tennessee). I am able to follow Fitzpatrick line from 1880 to present. Suggestion from anyone? Your help would be most appreciated!!
Thanks in Advance.
