I got a copy of the "diary" that you mention from the Dallas Public Library a couple of years back when I was researching the 13th Texas Cavalry. The "diary" is actually an account the author did at the request of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. None of the soldiers listed were in Burnett's 13th Texas Cavalry - most are listed in Hewett's "Texas Confederate Soldiers" as serving in the 22nd Texas. Harrell's reference to Co. D, 13th is a mystery. The reference to Gen. Pike is also confused since authority to number units mustering for Confederate service was Gen. Samuel Cooper in Richmond.
