Re: Old Garvin Cemetery for sale!

EASY Boys, easy. ! THere is a lot more to this than meets the eye. I cleaned this cemetery up about 6 years ago, called in my SCV camp # 1384, Dallas. I am the one what ordered the V.A. stones and set them. I am the one what found the large photos of the CSA men, in TENN. I am the one what researched the SWOR family all the way back to eastern Germany.

We held a service there about 6 years ago, with horses and mules. I had a re-enact firing group come in and had a Dallas Architect come in CSA music uniform and play the bugle. He played " tatoo ", not TAPS. Check this one out.......

I invited all the Politics guys, both SCV Camps of Dallas,
and UDC's. Nice crowd showed----- most in period clothes. Good time had by all ! I was the M/of /Cer--- in my CSMC uniform.

I have lots of photos.

THe real story is that there are 3 cemeteries there. Smith Hall Mon'ic up front. Garvin in the middle. Black Garvin farther back toward the creek.

Smith hall was moved in the 40's, Black Garvin was torn over and up. This left Garvin standing in the middle.

I have an old layout map, hand drawn-- from about 1937.
I have the deed records and various stuff. Street drawing and old maps from 1900. I have attended several of the D/HIST/ COMM'IS'N meetings. Ya have to kind of " go along --to get along" on this commission. Francis James is on this commission.

I seem to be the only one in this county to have the inventory of the BlaCK Garvin Cemetery. I have names and dates, what they died of, parents names, where they lived, etc.

Francis sends out the boy scouts each summer to mow the Garvin cemetery.

Why do i know all this ? Well, I hate to use the word I,I,I,I -- all the time. But , I am the 'cemetery guy' of Dallas county. I have stood in 220 cemeteries in this county--- and touched the grave stones of all the CSA, CSN men in these said cemeteries. Who else can say that. ? Now I only need to find the last 28 cemeteries, and I shall have 'um all. We'er talking some REAL machete and legging work here now ! Who wants to join me ?

Curt Flatt, MOSB Commander # 68, Dallas
