Re: Confederate soldier's home in Austin

Hi Lucretia. I am indeed making the assumption that my ancestor was drawing a pension but the details are still a bit fuzzy. He served in a LA cavalry unit (documented) but also I find that his name is on the roster of two Texas reg'ts. No record of application for pension in LA so will pursue that with the Texas folks. Do you know anything about the soldier's home in Austin? How many years did it operate and was it funded exclusively by pension funds? Another responder has a picture of the home and has offered a copy. Will send you a copy of the copy if you are interested. Thanks for your help.
