One mystery solved!

I did a thorough search of the National Park Service website on the Civil War soldiers and sailors and found out that some of my first information was, not surprisingly, incorrect. I found an A.B. Moore (whose name I had previously as Amos Vincent Moore--imagine the army making a mistake like incorrectly recording a man's middle initial!) who served in the 3rd Regiment Cavalry of Texas state troops with a Captain S. Townsend and a Lt. Col. Geo. Dunaway. There is no unit history other than the regiment existed only six months from 1863-1864. My original source states tht Townsend's company served picket duty on Padre Island and when Dunaway's battalion was captured on Mustang Island (apparently during the fall of Fort Esperanza), Townsend's company retreated to Corpus Christi.

If anyone has any additional information on the 3rd Regt. of Texas Cavalry, I would love to see it.
