Alice: As a member of the Cherokee Nation, I know for a fact that information on the 1st Cherokee Battalion is out there. No offense, but you will not find it without the correct spelling. Try Cherokeehistory.org; "All Things Cherokee" (don't know url, use that as a search term..) or just "1st Cherokee Battalion CSA" (as a search term). I have found after a number of years as a researcher, that people tend to think they have to have a specific thing in order to do a search. This is not true. If you want to be specific, put quotation marks around the search subject, but if that doesn't work, try it without them. Sometimes your computer will even tell you to remove them for more hits, but I always try the quotation marks at least once. Don't try to come up with their internet address. Just key it in as a search term, and you'll get lots of hits. Then you can weed them out.I have found many good sites this way. If it doesn't work, write back. Good luck..
