Three of my great grandfather's brothers served in the 22nd Texas Calvary. They were Christian, Joseph and Isaac Neff. Christian and Joseph both died, one before the end of the war and the other shortly after the war ended. Isaac survived the war and had descendents. Their youngest brother,my great grandfather, Alan Neff did not serve during the Civil War. He was too young. Alan was born in 1851 in Cass County Indiana. He moved to Fannin County Texas when he was about 8 or 9 years old. He married Mary Elizabeth Stewart (Steuart)in 1878. She was the daughter of Hadden Steurt or Stewart, not sure of spelling, and wife Sarah (not sure of wifes name) They had a ranch near what is now, Ardmore Oklahoma in Carter County. Very little is known about her family. She died of childbirth complications shortly after my Grandfather, Jesse Wayne Neff, was born. He was born near Dibble Oklahoma. I would surly like to know more about the Stewarts in Cheryl K. Mayfield-Howerton's line. Thank you for any help. Gene Neff
