What a wonderful site! I found my great grandfather, J.R. Hawpe, Pvt. Co. E listed on your Muster Roll. Also, I am able to confirm some of the "tales" about the war that have been passed down. I do have a picture of John Roland and will be glad to share. Need to get it copied and reproduced if you're interested. I have his pension records but have just received forms for sending for his "service" records which I have neglected to do until now. His father was TC Hawpe who organized the 31st. Tex. Cavalry and since they were both in the same proximity; I felt that some of the records were confused. Thanks for all the helpful History on the third. Sincerely
