Where the regiment was mustered does not necessarily indicate where the recruits were from. For example, my great grandmother's brother, Thomas Jefferson "Tom" Blanton, was recruited at Bonham in north Texas and was mustered into Col. Thomas Green's 5th Texas Cavalry at San Antonio in south Texas.
