I am compiling a list of the killed and wounded from the Battle of Yellow Bayou. While I don't have a John Hanson on the list, I do have a Pvt. John Harcum, Co. G, 12th Texas, who was wounded "severely in knee." From what I know about list transcriptions, I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut that my Pvt. Harcum is actually John Hanson. Thanks for getting me straightened out on that. I'll have to dig around and find where I got my information from. Believe it was a newspaper article from a Galveston paper. Lists 10 killed, 59 wounded and two missing from the 12th Tex Cav in that engagement. The company CO, Capt Weir, was also killed. One of his descendants came by the battlefield a few years ago.
