My Five Confederate GGGGrandfathers

First, the people on this board are fantastic and so helpful. Thank you!

I believe that I've located 5 grandfathers (ggg's, gggg's) that served in the CSA in Texas. I am compiling a family tree book as a gift to my parents and going to put out a last request for information before finalizing it. If anyone has any information on the following ancestors and their service, I would be so grateful for your input. Thanks again.

William Wiley Chandler, Randall's 28th Texas, Waker Division, 1st Lancers, Company E. July 12, 1862 - Shreveport La. absent without leave. March 1864, sick at camp. I have found a website cataloging his wife's burial cemetery (no longer open to the public) that states that he died in battle and was "buried in the field". His wife was Lydia VanZandt buried in Old Piney Grove Cemetery, Turney, Texas. However, I can find no military documentation on his death and can not find where he was buried.

Cornelius D. Deaton, UDC plaque on his grave site says "Pvt Co. I 35 Texas Calvary, CSA". His pension file is #29414.

Joel Blackwell, Company D, 18th Regiment Texas Calvary. Born July, 18,1822, Died July 12 or 1, Ft. Smith, Searcy, Arkansas. Company Muster-in Roll; Capt Milton Wesley Damron's Company, Darnell's Regiment Volunteers, (became Co.D 18th Tex. Cav.). Pvt. Joel Blackwell, age 40, Mustered in March 15,1862 at Dallas, Dallas Co, Texas. Enlisted Bell County,Texas no dated, for 1 year. Value of horse $125.00 and equipment $30.00. Muster Roll; Jun 15-Jun 30 1862, Pvt. Joel Blackwell, Co. D, 18th Tex Cav. Enlisted Jan 15'1862 at Belton, Texas, for 1 year, by M.W. Damron, not paid, Present. This company was at Arkansas Post when it was surrendered on Jan. 11,1863, and only 6 men escaped. 2Lt. John Brown and 5 enlisted men, also Capt Damron was on furlough at the time.

James Polk Priestly, Private, Company H, Teas Mann's Battalion, Calvary Regiment (Bradford's)

James Austin Priestly, QM Sgt, 2 Regiment, Texas Infantry, CSA, Captured in Vicksburg, Miss. in 1863. Escaped. Recaptured Dec. 1864. Imprisoned in Lexington KY then Camp Chase, OH until war ended.

Anything extra you can add to their stories would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Donna.
