Texas State Troops vs. Confederates in Texas

George Martin:
.
re your statement: "July 25, 1864. It was composed principally of former members of the Texas State Troops." ..Your assertion is significant and, unfortunately, has been under reported. I have a paragraph separator in bold letters:
.
"McCulloch had only Texas State Troops"
.
On March 13, 1864, Brig-Gen. H.E. McCulloch stated that he had ONLY Texas State Troops. One reason this has not been emphasized in Texas history is that some of these documents are only found in THE BOURLAND PAPERS, and I'm the first to transcribe them. Below is from the Introduction to my book:
.
The BOURLAND PAPERS contain about 200 documents, most pertaining to the Civil War era. Of particular interest are the Bourland Papers that contain forty-three (43) letters that do not, but should, appear in the OFFICIAL RECORD: thirty-four (34) letters written by Brig-General H. E. McCulloch to Col. James Bourland and nine (9) letters written to McCulloch, who burned his records.
