Hi there,
I have put in a request for service records with the Texas State Archives. I suspect that the one for John could very well be my man. TVG stands for Texas Volunteer Guard and his headstone reads Company D, Texas Mounted Volunteers. Maybe coincidence. The second man may not be John Enoch Cook, but a namesake. FB stands for Frontier Battalion. I wonder if that has anything to do with the Texas Rangers or maybe someone just thought he was in the Texas Rangers. I don't know. I'm requesting it just in case and also a pension application for John Enoch Cook filed by his wife. At least now I know that I have his wife's name correct. Y'all keep your fingers crossed for me and thanks so much for your help! :o) Cathey Cline
