Hi Y'all,
The following link goes to a service record for Enoch Cook. It states that he was a 1st Sargeant of Captain John R. Hughes in Company D, Ranger Force is written in and Frontier Battalion crossed out, and the date is September 9, 1901 to his discharge at Fort Hancock February 6, 1902. His headstone reads Company D, Texas Mounted Volunteers, CSA. Company D is the same, but are Ranger Force and Texas Mounted Volunteers the same? Sounds to me like his record just may shoot down the notion that he served as a Texas Ranger at the same time that he was a Confederate soldier or the idea that he was a Confederate soldier at all. I hope you guys know because I'm not sure :o) Cathey Cline
