I am helping the New Mexico branch of the Sons of Confederate Veterans with the section of their website called "Confederate Soldiers Buried in New Mexico or West Texas After the End of the War Between the States" http://www.nm-scv.org/PageMill_Resources/CS_Military_BuriedNM.html I work with soldiers buried in Roosevelt and Curry Counties. My initials are on several of the soldiers as the contributor of the information about them. I have much more research on each one than what they show on their site, some more than others, just to be sure that I have the correct unit for each man. Some are much easier than others. Some don't have military headstones and it is not my purpose to make sure that they get those, but the lady who is helping me when I need it is the president of our local UDC and if they do happen to place such a stone, I don't want them doing that based on my research then find out I was mistaken. William Johnson Gilbert is my particular enigma this time. The UDC isn't satisfied that one of the units Mike gave me is correct even though its Captain Scott is mentioned in the widows pension application. So, I posted another message and mentioned only the unit that is listed for Gilbert in the local Bedford Forrest Camp #1606 book as Co. H, Parson's Reg. Cav., Harris Brigade to see if I could find him that way. I still have to photograph his gravestone, about 30 miles from here, so I don't know if he has one from the military. If the UDC requests one for him, I want my research to be sound, and, as I've discovered, I can't seem to do it by myself. Thank you so much for all your help, Allan. Cathey
