I have a written account of his experiences, penned by his son, sometime before 1956. This account lists commanding officers and places of military actions. I have begun searching, via the web, and have generally ID'd one possible Battalion, and possible Brigades, by cross referencing the commanding officers (from written account). Below is those possible ID'd commands.
What I do not know is how the AZ. groups (apparently) became detached into Texas groups, or if they remained organizationally documented and recorded under 'Arizona'.
1. T W Kidd probably was mustered in Arizona:
Lt. Col. Philemon T. Herbert, Arizona Calvary Batallion.
[Or] 1st Texas AZ. Mounted Rifles
[Or] 4th TX Mounted Regiment
[Or] 4th TX Mounted Volunteers (unlikely)
[Or] 7th Calvary Battalion (became the 26th Calvary ?)
[Or] 7th Mounted Volunteers
2. The account names these commanding Officers along with some service descriptions of T. Washington Kidd:
- Herbert (as above)
-Tom Green, fallen at Red River; Thomas Washington was under his command at the time.
- Captain Jim Trivetts; T. Washington was performing scouting service.
- General Kirby Smith
- Dick Taylor

The account mentions only 3 other details
being "mustered out in E. TX or possibly Louisiana".
"At or near the small town of Vermillion, captured and held for a few hours when the Confederates were re-enforced (sic) and the Federals, in their retreat, released him".
"I am not sure whether (Thomas Washington) was in the infantry or the cavalry. My general impression is that he was principally in the infantry service; but I have often heard him him relate one incident which would indicate that he was, for a time, in the calvary".
I would be forever in debt if anyone can locate Thomas Washington among service records, or assist me in possible archival sources in which to I might locate them. Informational comments on the above data would be appreciated as well.
