Dr. James Newsom is currently working on his manuscript of a new book on the 7th Texas Infantry. Both his M.A. thesis ("Grand phalanx of intrepid infantry : the seventh Texas, 1861-1865", University of Texas at Tyler, 1993) and his dissertation
"Intrepid gray warriors: The 7th Texas Infantry, 1861-1865", Texas Christian University, 1995) are on the topic. The thesis is available for interlibrary loan from the University of Texas at Tyler Library (go through your local library to request it), and the dissertation is available from the database Digital Dissertations, accessible at most university libraries.

James has been able to pull together an impressive database on members of the regiment. He teaches here at UT-Tyler.
