Are you familiar with Sherrie S McLeroy?

Though not a full length book, she has wrtitten two accounts which I found to be well researched with extensive footnotes and sources.

"Mistress of Glen Eden: The Life and Times of Texas Pioneer Sophia Porter." (Limited Edition Monograph) Sherman TX: White Stone Publishing Group (1990)

"Red River Women" (Chapter One, Sophia Suttenfield Aughinbaugh Coffee Butt Porter). Republic of Texas Press (1996)

The latter is out of print but new and used copies can be found online. The monograph is a bit scarce and expensive online but I see new copies at Recycled Boooks in Denton from time to time for about $10-15.
