Elias A. Davis

Trying to find out if Elias A. (or possibly C. ?) Davis possibly served in a Texas regiment. He was born in North Carolina about 1819. By the mid to late 1830's he is in Alabama and marrys one Letha Morris of South Carolina on July 19, 1838 in Saint Clair, Alabama.
In 1850 he, his wife and 6 kids are in Walker Co. Alabama. He is 31 yrs old at this time and the oldest son of the children is Mathew Davis who is 6.

By 1870 Elias in no longer around and 56 yr old Letha and her 26 yr old son, Mathew ("M. P. Davis") are in Upshur Co., TX. Mathew has a wife and kids, the oldest who is a 10 yr old son born in Texas. Living next door, Letha has some kids also, the youngest being 6 born in Texas.

Based on all this, it appears they all were in Texas by 1860 judging by Mathew's 10 yr old son, and Elias probably died sometime towards the end of the war because his last child born in Letha'a household there in Texas was born about 1864...in Texas.

Also, wondering if Mathew served in the war. He would have been about 17 years old at war's start. Elias would have been 41.

If anyone can find any war service info on either Elias and/or Mathew Davis based on these ages and info I've given, it would be very much appreciated!

Thanks, Kevin.
