A friend of mine who is grandson of Hilry Columbus Winfield thought he may have been captured at Vicksburg.
Columbus Winfield was captured October 26, 1864 in Missouri in Newton County according to Rock Island Arsenal Prisoner of war records around the time of Price’s raid; Vicksburg was from May 18 – July 4, 1863 in Warren County, Mississippi. The dates do not work out for this to have happened. I need to know if Hardeman’s TX Cav (31) 1rst Reg't AZ Brigade, was with Price's Missouri Expedition in Missouri at the time Winfield was captured. Does anyone have this information?
