John Gresham did not come to Farmersville,Collin Co.,Texas from Tennessee until 1869.He was captured and exchanged twice in the war.First time at Donelson and second in Nov.63 at Sugar Creek SW of Pulaski. That second time he was caught by federals under Thomas on the way back from visiting his wife near Culleoka and Campbell's Station.A child was born exactly 9 months later.Unfortunately the infant died the next winter when Wilson's cavalry came thru chasing Hood back across the Tennessee.I have often wondered if the yankee cavalry may have burned them out.It was a terrible winter at that time.
A branch of these early Greshams went down to North Alabama and then over to Mississippi from which some became Grisham.
Ya never know unless you ask.We may be related way back from Virginia.Anythings possible.
